Professor Clément Bigirimana holds a PhD in Language Sciences, Option: French Language and Linguistics. He is a teacher-researcher at the rank of Associate Professor at the University of Burundi, Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences where he held the positions of Head of Department of French Language and Literature but also the Head of the Department for the Promotion of Innovations and Popularization of Research Results before being appointed Permanent Executive Secretary of the Rundi Academy, one of the Specialized Structures of the Ministry of National Education and Scientific Research – a position he currently holds. In the field of research, he is the author of several articles and chapters in collective works published in internationally recognized journals. His research focuses on sociolinguistics, discourse analysis, language policy and language contact.
