Biography
Dr René Simbizi is a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Physics at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Burundi. He is also affiliated with the Center for Research in Mathematics and Physics (CRMP), one of the research centers of the Faculty of Sciences. He obtained his PhD in 2021 from the University of Burundi, specializing in astrophysics. His research focuses primarily on computational physics and quantum chemistry, applied to the study of the electronic, structural, and spectroscopic properties of molecules and materials. His research includes: (1) the study of the electronic and structural properties of solid materials (electronic bands, density of states, optical properties, etc.); (2) the modeling of molecules of astrophysical interest that may exist in the interstellar medium or planetary atmospheres; (3) the calculation of vibrational, electronic, or rotational spectra to contribute to the identification of molecules observed with telescopes; and (4) understanding the microscopic mechanisms governing the properties of materials or the formation of molecules in astrophysical environments.
