The Faculty of Sciences / Presentation
The Faculty of Sciences is one of the eleven Faculties/Institutes of the University of Burundi. It is located within the Mutanga Campus and includes five (5) departments divided into two sections. It also includes administrative and technical services as well as laboratories grouped into research centers facilitating the accomplishment of its mission of teaching, research and community services. It provides training at the highest level organized in the BMD system leading to Baccalaureate and Master's degrees.
The two sections of the Faculty of Sciences are as follows:
The Science Section
The Polytechnic Section
The Sciences section includes three departments, namely:
Biology department
Department of Chemistry
Department of Earth Sciences
The polytechnic section includes two departments, namely:
1. Department of Mathematics
2. Department of Physics
During each academic year, the Faculty's activities are carried out in partnership. The General Commission (Heads of departments, President of the section, Vice-dean and Dean), in consultation with the Faculty Council, carry out and pursue several activities relating to the smooth running of the Faculty. All questions relating to the life of the Faculty from both an academic and administrative point of view are debated within the Ordinary Faculty Council.
