📌 Rector
The day-to-day administration and management of the University of Burundi are ensured by a Rector, assisted by the Vice-Rector. The Rector exercises general leadership, both academic and administrative, of the University of Burundi.
Founded in 1964, the University of Burundi is the main public university, currently with more than 12,000 students spread across 8 Faculties and 7 Institutes. It provides excellent training based on quality teaching and aims to be a reference university in the sub-region, and even throughout Africa. The University of Burundi has already adopted the BMD system (3-2-3) since the 2011-2012 academic year. It is a member of the Interuniversity Network of the Great Lakes Countries and the Interuniversity Network of the EAC (East African Community).
